Teachers in Newton, Mass., are “having conversations’ about a possible strike,” reports WGBH, a Boston public television and radio outlet.

In the Spring 2019 issue of Education Next, Martin West wrote (“The Strikes Keep Coming“) that strikes in Oakland, Los Angeles, and Denver “may presage a new era of conflict. With the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2018 Janus decision barring public-sector unions from collecting representation fees from non-members, unions are more eager than ever to display their power to prospective dues payers.”
