Guidelines For Submissions
Education Next accepts unsolicited submissions for the following departments: Features, Research and School life. Occasionally, the other journal departments — Legal Beat, Book Reviews, What Next — will accept unsolicited submissions. Features run from 3,000-3,500 words, and are fact-based. Research articles run approximately 4,000 words and must be peer reviewed, if accepted by the editorial team. (See the peer review policy following.) School Life articles run around 750 words and focus on a personal experience in the world of education.
We prefer that submissions be sent via email, but will review pieces sent by standard mail. Submissions by email go to firstname.lastname@example.org. Papers sent by standard mail may be sent to Education Next, Taubman 220, Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge MA 02138.
Peer Review Policy
All papers submitted to the research section of Education Next are subjected to peer review. The proposed paper is submitted to scholars thought to be knowledgeable about the topic under discussion. A double-blind process is followed. Reviewers are not told the identity of the author, and the author, though given a copy of the comments, is not told the identity of the reviewer. Reviews from at least two scholars must be received prior to publication. Editors may ask authors to revise papers in light of reviewer comments. A decision whether or not to publish is based on reviewer comments and the editors’ own assessments of the quality of the paper.
The opinions expressed in Education Next are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Editorial Board of Education Next or the sponsor of Education Next.
