On Thursday, Jeb Bush will give a speech in Washington, D.C. at his think tank’s annual conference.  While he is unlikely to announce his decision on a presidential bid at this point, he is expected to talk about the Common Core.

As Beth Reinhard notes in today’s Wall Street Journal

An undaunted Mr. Bush reiterated his support for the standards in an interview last week with Education Next, a nonpartisan education policy journal. “To be clear, higher academic standards are necessary, and the rigor of the Common Core State Standards must be the new minimum in classrooms.”

With a number of potential GOP presidential candidates opposed to Common Core, among them Mr. Rubio, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.), a campaign by Mr. Bush would ensure that the debate spills into the 2016 campaign.

The full interview conducted by Education Next with Jeb Bush, in which he discusses many education topics in addition to the Common Core, is available here.
