The National Council on Teacher Quality has released its second annual evaluation of teacher preparation programs.  This year’s review found that alternative certification programs suffer from many of the same shortcomings as traditional, university-based programs.

The Fall 2013 issue of Education Next featured a debate between David Chard, dean of the school of education at Southern Methodist University, and Jim Cibulka, president of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, on how to improve teacher preparation program.
