New Achievement Gap Analysis Suggests a More Comprehensive Picture of Equity

A new study by Education Trust identifies states that have narrowed gaps in performance between students from different subgroups while still seeing gains in achievement across all groups and relatively high levels of achievement compared to other states. The top states are Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, Texas, and Vermont. An article by Matthew Ladner and Dan Lips that appeared in the Summer 2009 issue of Ed Next looked at how Florida has improved student achievement, particularly among Hispanic students.
