Joe Robert, a D.C. philanthropist who supported efforts to expand school options for disadvantaged children, died last week. In the Washington Post, Sally Sachar writes about her work with Robert at the Washington Scholarship Fund, a nonprofit which administered the district’s voucher program. In 2004, Spencer Hsu told the story of how D.C. got its voucher program. In 2009, Patrick Wolf described efforts to kill the program.
