The Florida Virtual School—the largest state-sponsored online K-12 school in the country—expects to see its revenues decline by 20 percent this year and has cut one third of its workforce. The changes are a result of a decision made by Florida to move away from funding a single provider of online courses in favor of having multiple providers, according to an article by Benjamin Herold. Other states are moving in the same direction.

Bill Tucker wrote about Florida Virtual School for Education Next in summer 2009, when the school was a model for other states just getting into online learning.
