What We’re Watching: John Oliver on Charter Schools

Earlier this week, John Oliver ran a segment making fun of charter schools on HBO’s Last Week Tonight.

Over on the 74, Nelson Smith responded with “A Few Thoughts About John Oliver’s Bleak, Unrepresentative Sample of Public Charter Schools.” He writes, “If this stuff were actually typical of charter schools, I would have bailed out of the movement years ago. But it’s not, and I haven’t.”

On redefinED, Travis Pillow looked at the specific examples highlighted by Oliver in the segment.
