On January 18, 2017 Fordham and Hoover hosted a discussion of three of the options policymakers might consider as they try to launch a school choice program:
a new competitive grant program;
allowing Title I and/or IDEA funds to follow children to their schools of choice, including private schools;
and adapting the tax code to stimulate additional support for state-created private-school scholarship programs.
Rep. Luke Messer, Joanne Weiss, Andy Smarick, Virginia Gentles, and McKenzie Snow participated in the event.
More information about the event is available here.
In this article, Mike Petrilli summarizes the discussion that took place about how a school choice program might work.
