A new study finds that America’s future math teachers have less knowledge of math than their counterparts in other countries. An article by Dan Goldhaber that appeared in Ed Next in 2002 reviewed the research on which specific teacher attributes lead to higher student achievement and found that a teacher’s academic preparation in math is one of the few attributes with a clear connection to student learning.
